Our story probably isn't all that different from your story.
We’ve been walking the road of complex, chronic illness for more than a decade. I have Chronic Lyme, our kids have Congenital Lyme, and one of our children also has PANS. Mold has been woven into our health story from early on, so we deeply understand the fear, anxiety, and overwhelm that can come with all of this.
For years, we dealt with the uncertainty that surrounds mold inspections and testing. We spent so much time and money on experts and reports—only to end up with the same answer: yes, there’s mold, but no one could tell us where it actually was. The only advice we kept getting was to tear our house apart in search of it, which simply wasn’t feasible. So we did nothing....for years.
Then one day I read about a man in Florida who had a mold-detection dog. I called him immediately and begged him to come to California. He couldn’t—but that conversation sparked an idea. What if we got our own mold dog? What if we could help people on the West Coast find mold without the stress, fear, and guesswork we went through?
That idea turned into reality. We became the first mold dog inspection company in California—one of the first in the entire country aside from Bagel’s amazing trainer, Bill, in Florida. When Bagel joined our family, the very first inspection we did was our own home. For the first time, we finally had answers. And since then, we’ve been able to help countless families find clarity in the confusing, never-ending rabbit hole of mold.
Being able to help people who are living through what we’ve lived through doesn’t erase the pain of our own journey, but it does bring us a deep sense of purpose. Each family we help makes our experience feel a little more redemptive—like something good is being built from something we would never wish on anyone.
We truly love what we do, and it’s an honor to walk alongside people on their healing journeys. While we’re much better than we used to be, we’re still on our own path. Lyme and PANS are stubborn, and we don’t know how long this road will be. But not so long ago, I couldn’t have imagined being well enough to run a business at all—so we’re incredibly grateful to God that we’ve healed enough to serve others in this way.
We pour our hearts and souls into this work, and we have so much empathy and compassion for every person who reaches out to us. You’re not alone, and we truly understand what you’re going through.
