The short version
We are a mold inspection company, not an advertising company. We collect very little, we keep it for a short time, and we do not sell it to anyone.
If you would rather just ask us about this than read the rest of the page, call us. We are happy to answer.
What we collect
When you use this site, our servers receive the ordinary information any website receives: which pages you looked at, roughly how long you spent, the site or search that sent you, general details about your browser and device, and the approximate area your connection comes from — the city or region, never a street address.
If you fill in our contact form, we receive what you chose to type into it, so that we can reply to you.
We also receive your IP address, which every website and app on the internet necessarily receives in order to send a page back to you.
Your IP address, and why we keep it briefly
An IP address is not a name. It is closer to a return address for the network you are connected to, and it is the main practical signal anyone has for telling one visitor from another.
We keep it for 28 days, and the reason is security. A small business website is a constant, unglamorous target for automated abuse: scripts hammering contact forms, scrapers, credential stuffing, and traffic from actors overseas who have no interest in mold inspection. Keeping a short window of addresses is how both our automated defenses and an actual human being can recognize that pattern, stop it, and prevent it recurring.
During that window it also lets us tell devices apart, so that a household looking at the site on a phone and then on a laptop is not counted as two unrelated strangers.
After 28 days the address is deleted. What remains is counting information that is not tied back to you.
Cookies and analytics
We may use a small number of first-party cookies — set by this site, for this site — to keep things working and to understand how the site is used. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not run ad networks here.
We use analytics tools to see which pages are useful and which are not. Some of that is measured by our own software on our own servers; some of it uses a third-party analytics provider. Neither is used to build an advertising profile of you.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not record what you type into forms as you type it, and we do not capture the contents of your screen.
We do not ask for, and have no use for, sensitive information about you.
How long we keep things
IP addresses: 28 days.
General usage statistics: longer, because comparing this spring to last spring is genuinely useful to a seasonal business. That information is not linked to you by name or address.
Anything you send us directly, such as a contact form or an inspection request, is kept for as long as we need it to serve you and to keep proper business records.
Your choices
You can ask us what we have about you, and you can ask us to delete it. Call us and we will take care of it. Given how little we keep and how briefly we keep it, the honest answer is often that there is nothing left to find.
Most browsers also let you clear or block cookies for a site, which this site will respect.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging an inspection. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page. The date at the top is when it was last revised.
